Contact: May 5, 2009 (Ankeny, Iowa) QA Graphics, an innovative computer graphic developer specializing in building automation graphic design, is pleased to announce its award winning product, the Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard (EEED), is used by Pine Jog Elementary, which was recently named Best Elementary School in Florida at the Florida Educational Facilities Planners’ Association (FEFPA) 2009 Architectural Showcase. Pine Jog Elementary is South Florida’s first LEED school campus, representing an innovative collaboration of environmental stewardship and unique learning opportunities that enhance the education process. Pine Jog Elementary was designed by Zyscovich Architects, a nationally renowned firm, with a wide-ranging experience in school design, creating engaging teaching and learning environments to give students the competitive edge they need to succeed in the 21st Century’s global environment. QA Graphics worked with Wisch and Jackson, an automated building systems integrator in Florida, to integrate the Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard (EEED) with the school’s building control systems. An EEED is a graphical user interface (GUI) that displays the live data of a building’s energy efficiencies streamed directly from the building’s utility usage data that is monitored. This energy monitoring system is part of the school’s LEED credit for Innovation in Design: Building as a Teaching Tool. The EEED is used to educate the students about the environment by showing the school’s energy savings and green initiatives. It is presented to the students as an easy to understand Web site, where they can view the building’s energy consumption any time of the day. The school’s historical data is also provided, comparing the real-time energy usage with the past performance to measure the savings from the green features. Kids can also check the weather, see energy saving tips, and click on different features to learn more about the school’s various green features, including a solar water system, recycled building materials, and eco-breezeway.
