Show How Your School Is Green
Utilize the EEED a number of ways:
Real-time Utility Data – View real time utility usage such as water, electric or gas. View usage by the hour/day/week/month and compare it to historical data to immediately see how effective your efficiency efforts are. School Leaderboard – Engage students and faculty with an ongoing contest to conserve building resources and show how they compare among floors within a building or against multiple buildings. Display their real-time resource use in hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly increments to show who’s winning, as well as historical information past rankings. Green Features – Provide easy to understand educational information about the sustainable efforts made throughout the school. Environmental Tips – Provide easy tips that students can do to be more efficient at school or at home, such as turning off the lights when you’re not in a room or turning the water off when brushing your teeth. Animated Demos – Demonstrate how sustainable features such as geothermal heat pumps, storm water management systems or photovoltaics actually work. LEED Checklist – If the school is LEED certified, show what was done to achieve this. Weather Display – Access live weather information to view the current weather and forecast. Interactive Quiz – Quiz students on the sustainable information provided throughout the EEED.
Calendar – Display class schedules, extracurricular events or other upcoming events. Menu – Provide a daily, weekly or monthly menu. News – Share important school, community, or national news. Awards – Showcase student or faculty awards or begin a “student of the month” program. Sponsor/Donor – Display thanks for school donors or sponsors. School Map – Provide a clear layout of the school and highlight key locations. The features provided are a short listing of the Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard’s capabilities. Additional features can be incorporated as each EEED is custom developed to fit individual needs.

The Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard is used by schools to educate the staff, faculty, students, parents and community about the school’s sustainable initiatives and building resource use. As schools work to become more efficient and new schools are built sustainably, there is a need to educate the next generation on the importance of sustainability.
